David Honig
Vision Ventures is the brainchild of David Honig, an experienced digital media operator and investor. David is fulfilling his vision through investments into ambitious companies such as Aviary, UrbanDaddy, Fafarazzi, and PHD Virtual. They follow angel investments David has made into companies like PhotoBucket (acquired by Fox for $300M), Abe's Market, a marketplace for organic products, and Behind the Burner, an emerging culinary media brand. He began his career focused on partner acquisition at SmartRay Networks, a mobile media platform (acquired by LifeMinders for $36M), and then as Director of Business Development at iClips, one of the web’s first consumer video destinations. Prior to founding Vision, David gained deep investing experience at Insight Venture Partners where he originated multiple investments including Airborne Entertainment (acquired by Cybird for $90M), Eyeblaster (on file for IPO), Htiwise (acquired by Experian for $240M), Medidata Solutions (NASDAQ: MDSO), and Paisley Software (Acquired by Thomson Reuters). He holds a B.A. in Government from Harvard University, cum laude. Not bad for a guy who whose elementary school Principal claimed he might be ‘mildly retarded.’ No joke.
David is an avid photographer, a patent holder for a left hand/right hand compatible schooldesk, a lapsed practitioner of Karate, and a lucky husband married to a beautiful wife.
All told, David is most definitely not from VC central casting, which may have something to do with the secret to his success.
